The Debt Advice Network attained charitable status in June 2008. It was formed to bridge the gap in existing services already available for people who need help and advice with debt.

We have a network of trained volunteer advisers who will visit in the home, usually within 72 hours of a request for help. We are specialists in debt, money, housing and benefit advice and focus on all debt related issues, trying to bring some order to the lives of people who cannot cope with the stress that being in debt can bring.

 

Debt has no social barriers and can affect people from all walks of life, whether on benefits, employed, self-employed, students or pensioners. Our unique model of no qualifying criteria for help and minimal waiting times means we can offer our service to anyone who asks for it, especially the vulnerable and socially isolated. The Debt Advice Network has clear policies and procedures in place and undertakes regular risk assessments to ensure good practice procedures and due diligence are up to date.

 

We are able to deal with all aspect of debt ranging from utility and rent arrears up to and including secured lending, without the need to signpost a client which would leave them feeling as though they are being passed from pillar to post and that no-one will ultimately accept their case.

 

So far we have helped in excess of 18 000 individuals and families dealing with more than 50 000 separate issues.

 

We believe our service is unique, innovative and not duplicated. We have not received any Government funding - we rely on bespoke projects and contracts, grants, gift aid and donations.
